Three New Members and New Officers Elected to the American Cancer Society Board of Directors

ATLANTA, Dec. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Cancer Society welcomes newly elected members and key officer leadership positions to the Board of Directors, with all terms beginning on Jan. 1, 2019.

"We are pleased to announce all of our new and returning Board members that continue to make cancer a priority and help attack cancer from every angle," said Daniel P. Heist, 2019 chair of the Board. "The esteemed members of our Board bring unique perspectives and expertise to the organization and are critical to helping the American Cancer Society continue its mission to lead the fight for a world without cancer."

The Board consists of 21 members, which includes five officers and 16 directors. Newly elected members include:

  • Mark A. Goldberg, MD, Boston, MA: Dr. Goldberg is a medical oncologist and hematologist on the faculty of Brigham & Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School, a veteran biotech executive, and long-time American Cancer Society and America Cancer Society Cancer Action Network volunteer. Dr. Goldberg is also the chair of the Eastern New England Area Board.
                                                                                       
  • Michelle M. Le Beau, PhD, Chicago, IL: Dr. Le Beau is the Arthur and Marian Edelstein Professor of Medicine - Section of Hematology/Oncology, Director of the University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Director of the Cancer Cytogenetics Laboratory at the University of Chicago. She is board-certified in clinical cytogenetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics. She is also a member of the National Cancer Policy Forum of the National Academy of Medicine.
                                                                   
  • Terri McClements, McLean, VA: McClements serves as the Mid Atlantic Managing Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC). In her current role, she leads a practice comprised of over 4,000 professionals serving public and private clients across all industry sectors on local, national, and global levels. Most recently she served as PwC's US Human Capital Leader and Vice Chair, Global Talent Leader, and as a member of the US Leadership team she transformed the way PwC attracts, develops and inspires talent.
