Meet our Executives and Experts

ROB KING

Rob King serves as the chief financial officer of the American Cancer Society, Inc., the largest nationwide voluntary health organization raising approximately $700 million annually. Rob also serves as the chief financial officer of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action NetworkSM, a 501(c)4 organization and sister organization of the American Cancer Society. He also directs BrightEdge Ventures, the American Cancer Society’s new venture philanthropy fund, business development and strategic planning for the Society.

In his previous role as senior vice president of Enterprise Planning and Business Integration, Rob guided the American Cancer Society’s long-term enterprise strategic planning, new business development, and information management strategy. In this role, Rob led the change of the organization’s legacy Division structure to a market-based Regional structure and served as executive sponsor in creating BrightEdge Ventures.

Prior to his enterprise planning role, Rob held a variety of finance leadership positions at the American Cancer Society. As senior vice president, finance, he provided leadership for financial planning and analysis (FP&A), financial services and financial reporting, and supply chain. During his tenure in the finance organization, Rob led the creation of the American Cancer Society’s first nationwide resource allocation planning and forecasting process and held key leadership roles in the organization’s transformation work.

Prior to joining the American Cancer Society, Rob worked with a subsidiary of The Home Depot as corporate controller, leading the corporate accounting function as well as financial planning and analysis. In this role, Rob supported business development due diligence teams as part of four separate acquisition transactions that helped grow the start-up Division to more than $1 billion in revenues. Prior to The Home Depot, Rob worked at Delta Air Lines, where he served in various financial planning and accounting roles on the operations finance team. Rob began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers, serving various clients primarily in the nonprofit and health care sectors.

Rob currently serves on the finance committee for Health Research Alliance. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in accountancy from the University of Illinois and Master of Business Administration from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
