American Cancer Society Appoints Terri McClements as Chair of the Board of Directors
Apr 30, 2025

ATLANTA, April 30, 2025 - The American Cancer Society is proud to announce Terri McClements' appointment as Chair of its National Board of Directors, effective April 1, 2025. She will serve a two-year term through March 30, 2027.

McClements brings decades of experience, dedication, and leadership to her new role.  She is a proven executive with over three decades of experience advising Fortune 100 and 500 multinational companies and their boards on strategy, digital and cloud transformation, talent, financial reporting, and board culture. She was most recently a senior partner at PwC, one of the largest global professional services firms, until her retirement in 2023. Throughout her 36-year career at PwC, she held numerous senior leadership roles, including serving on the firm's US board and Mid-Atlantic managing partner. As vice chair and human capital leader at PwC, she transformed the firm's talent strategy, integrated over 10 acquisitions, and drove value through cultural and operational alignment. McClements also led the core health care practice and oversaw strategy and succession planning. She also serves on the Boards of Park Hotels & Resorts and Inova Health System.

Her leadership and influence have been widely recognized: she was inducted into the Business Hall of Fame in 2023, named one of the 100 Most Powerful Women in Washington, honored as one of Virginia Business' 50 Most Influential Virginians, and received both the Washington Business Journal C-Suite Award and inclusion in its list of 100 Most Powerful Executives.

McClements began her journey with ACS as a volunteer participant and fundraiser with Relay For Life in the 1990s. Since joining the ACS Board of Directors in 2019, she has held several key leadership positions, including chair of the Human Capital and Compensation Committee and the Audit and Risk Committee.

"I’m deeply honored and truly humbled to serve as chair of the National Board during such a pivotal time in the American Cancer Society’s mission,” said McClements. “This cause is personal to me and so many of us, and it’s a privilege to work alongside such a passionate and committed board and leadership team. Together, I believe we can continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of those touched by cancer.”

The ACS Board comprises talented individuals committed to providing skilled leadership to help guide the ACS vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. The Board serves a critical role for the American Cancer Society, working alongside the chief executive officer to establish goals and review and approve the ACS integrated strategic and financial plan, monitor the organization's financial health and risk mitigation strategies, and ensure responsible use of funds. One of the most critical roles the Board plays is in selecting and supporting the transition of the CEO for ACS and American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network.

McClements appointment marks a new chapter in ACS' ongoing efforts to expand impact, accelerate lifesaving research, and end cancer as we know it, for everyone.
